Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools | Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Phoenix Academy was founded as an alternative school for high school students who needed a simpler and more personalized education, and this facility reflects this mission.
With the assistance of state lottery proceeds, the Board of Education embarked on an adaptive reuse of the original vocational building of the former Lincoln High School in Chapel Hill. CRA provided the vision of transforming a dark, industrial setting into a light-filled, colorful learning environment, one which would augment the ability of teachers, students and administrators. The design and construction work for this project was completed in less than seven months, and was ready for the student’s return after summer break, a testament to the dedication of the design and construction team.
