Orange County Schools | Hillsborough, North Carolina
Cedar Ridge High School is a self-contained, inward-focused school plan that was a direct response to the programmatic requirements of the Orange County Schools.
The school is designed to accommodate 1000 students on Day One, but with core facilities that could accommodate 1500 students in the future with an additional academic wing and auxiliary gymnasium. The school plan is centered on an interior courtyard adjacent to the cafeteria and gymnasium, which provides students with overflow space during nice weather and a venue for school events. The landscaping in the courtyard was designed, installed and maintained by students in the horticulture club on campus. The I-shaped academic wing faces the street while the physical education, food service and cultural arts facilities are located toward the rear of the facility near the athletic fields.
