The Dean E. Smith Center is the home of the Tarheel Men’s Basketball program.
Completed in the early 1980’s, the Smith Center contains over 300,000 square feet which includes the arena, locker rooms, a 50-meter pool, a sports medicine department, and a weight room. The interior of the arena is accented by a 13,000-square foot fabric skylight, which provides natural light, reducing the requirements for artificial lighting during daytime activities. Over the years, CRA has added and renovated several areas including UNC Basketball Offices, UNC Basketball Player Areas, Basketball Practice Facility and fan hospitality areas.
