Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools | Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Located in a neo-traditional neighborhood, Mary Scroggs Elementary School is a state-of-the-art school that emulates its traditional roots.
Scroggs Elementary is situated on thirteen acres of land at the southern edge of Southern Village, a new urban neighborhood south of Chapel Hill. In order to better fit in to the neo-traditional neighborhood , the exterior design of the school is meant to emulate schools designed regionally three generations ago. The 89,000 square foot floor plan of the school is a simple “T” shape. As you enter the two-story main lobby, the administrative offices greet students and visitors, and create a secure checkpoint for the school. Pre-K, Kindergarten and First Grade classrooms are located in four-room pods on the first floor along with a Science Classroom and an Exceptional Education Classroom. Grades 2 through 5 are located on the second floor. Along the stem of the “T” are the common areas such as the Media Center, Art Classroom, Cafeteria and Multi-purpose Room.
