The Piedmont Food and Agricultural Processing Center (or PFAP) provides farmers and food entrepreneurs from the piedmont region of North Carolina the opportunity to process, cook, package and sell locally produced foods.
PFAP, which serves Alamance, Chatham, Durham and Orange Counties, is housed in a former industrial building that was renovated to accommodate the food processing program. The clientele of the facility rent time in one or more of the four large commercial kitchens located in the building to process local ingredients into marketable products such as salad dressings, baked goods and frozen treats. Many of the initial clients have spun off their own facilities as a result of the incubation services of PFAP.
